Hello everyone and welcome to The D-Dan Reviews! Man it has been a while but I am back with a fan favorite, The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1! For those who don’t know, this is the third movie in The Hunger Games series. Its about how after Katniss destroys the games, she goes to District 13 after District 12 is destroyed. She meets President Coin who convinces her to be the symbol of rebellion, while trying to save Peeta from the Capitol.
Now as we all know I am a major fan of this series. I’ve read all the books, I’ve watched all the movies, this series just gets me going! So of course my expectations were high for this movie. I walked into the theatre, took my seat, sat back, and began to watch my favorite movie yet of The Hunger Games series! I loved it! I was entranced the entire movie by so many captivating things. Out of all of them though, the most captivating thing had to be the chess like strategies of both sides.
Within this movie you could see a war. A silent war that was becoming more and more apparent with each action taken by either side. I found it so interesting to watch each side make there moves and watch the effect of the moves play out immediately. The best part is it was done so well! I was never bored with the movie, each scene was strategically placed and made me (and I’m sure the rest of the audience I’m sure) wonder what is going to happen next?
Of course one of the most brilliant things about this series is the intense dialogue that takes place and gives you a sort of “food for thought” kind of feel. And then of course there’s the obvious things we love like the action and the effects which were on point and very well done.
Lastly there was the pacing of the movie which was phenomenal. Again I was never bored during the movie and the pacing is so important for a movie like this one because it’s part 1 in a 2 part series so you really have to space out the action and thrills so that its not all in just one part of the movie. Twilight: Breaking Dawn made this mistake and part 1 was extremely boring while part 2 was action packed.
All in all I’d give this movie a NUCLEAR!!! (5 out of 5) It was really just a great movie! The story, the dialogue, the pacing, the action, the effects, all of it was really well done and I’d pay to see this again! Well that’s it for now, make sure to check back and see what’s new on the page! Until next time this is The D-Dan Reviews.
What’s up guys, today’s review is of a movie I’m not sure anybody really knows about, therefore I’m reviewing it! The name of the movie is called Into the Storm. For those of you who don’t know, this movie is about how storm chasers, thrill-seekers, and everyday people document an unpredictable onslaught of tornadoes touching down in the town of Silverton.
Now I was not at all sure what to expect. If you’ve seen the movie Twister you’d hope it lives up to that, but since it’s 2014 and movies are unpredictable, I had know clue what I was going to see. And I’m truly glad I had no expectations because it made the moment even sweeter when I found out that this movie was AWESOME!! For all you thrill seekers out there, this is a classic, hold your breath, screaming, thriller! It is the modern day twister.
It had all the aspects I love in a movie. It had excitement, drama, humor, it was unpredictable (no stupid conveniences), and I was never bored! From the beginning to the end the story line stayed strong, and was told in a very interesting way. Everything flowed nice and smoothly, and I really enjoyed watching it.
I don’t really think there’s anything I didn’t really like about this movie. I mean the eldest son in the movie was kind of disrespectful to his father early on, but he did have a point. There was one passionately sad scene that I didn’t care for but it was necessary. Everything was on point and nothing really stood out to me as bad.
All in all I’d give this movie a NUCLEAR!! (5out of 5) It wasn’t a super spectacular movie but it was really awesome and man, the effects were killer! I think it would be a great family movie and is worth the money. Make sure you guys follow me on Twitter and like me on Facebook. Support me guys! Until next time this is The D-Dan Reviews.
What’s up everybody! Welcome to The D-Dan Reviews! I went out last night to go see a very anticipated movie and today I’m shooting you guys the review for Guardians of the Galaxy! For those of you who don’t know, this movie is about how in the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself becoming a super hero after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan.
Let me just start of by saying I didn’t expect a whole lot from this movie to begin with. I didn’t know much about the comic so I had to do some research and it didn’t change my opinion about the movie. But the one thing I did expect was to be entertained and that is something this movie did really well! I was entertained the whole time! This movie will keep me laughing, engaged, and most importantly this movie will keep you awake.
The action and special effects were excellent which is to be expected from a big blockbuster movie like this one. But one thing that was especially unique about the special effects was that at some points, the movie looked like a comic book and some camera angles helped play a part in that as well.
As we all know, there is always some bad to the good and this movie fell short in one of the greatest ways in my opinion: The story. Marvel has never really put much thought into there stories. We always know who’s going to win after the movie tries to make it seem like they are going to lose. The only thing that can be told differently is how they win and as funny and entertaining as this movie was, it was also cliché. That by itself can kill any movie, book, or show for me.
All in all I’d give this movie THE BOMB!! (4 out of 5). It was hilarious, entertaining, and kept me and the family in a good mood, but it was also very predictable and there wasn’t much to the story line. Well that’s all for today guys. Make sure to come back soon for another great review and spread the word about me!! Until next time this is The D-Dan Reviews.
What’s up everybody! Today I’m doing a review on the widely recognized Dawn of the Planet of the Apes!! For those who don’t know, this movie is how a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier.
Now I’m sure that most everyone knows this, but this is actually the second movie in the series. The first one is Rise of The Planet of the Apes and I did a review for that one as well so just click the link to read it! Now I walked into that theatre with really high expectations. Let me just say, I walked out of the theatre with my expectations met and exceeded!! What can I say, I loved it! Now I already expected it to be great, and it was even better than that! The thing I appreciated the most from the movie was the pace. The movie knew exactly when transition from a slow scene to a more fast paced scene. They did it just right so that I was never bored. I also loved the emotion I saw in each of the ape’s faces. They really made them seem more human which in turn made them a lot scarier.
Also the director really knew how to play on the mood and tone of the scene! Whenever Caesar spoke in the film it was at the right time and made me jump a little because of how intense the moment was. Now the story is a classic tale so I can’t say I loved the story, but as with all movies how you tell the story is what I judge. In this movie’s case, how they told the story was fantastic!
You could clearly see the development of the characters throughout the film and as I said before, the pace was great. Nothing seemed unbelievable or too convenient, and it was all just done really well. There weren’t any loose ends that needed to be tied and I have to give props to Matt Reeves for that.
All in all I’d give this movie a NUCLEAR (5out of 5)!!! It was a great film for the whole family although the movie did drop the F bomb once near the end. Besides that this movie is filled with action, adventure, humor, and of course APES!! So if there making a third one I can’t wait! Keep your eyes open for my next review, which should be Guardians of the Galaxy. Anyway that’s all for today! Until next time this is The D-Dan Reviews!
Hello everybody and welcome to The D-Dan Reviews! Boy do I have a good one for you today. Coming from the youngest director in the DMV area, Jimmy Jenkins brings you Transpose! This movie is about how in the essence of time and unfortunate circumstances, the paths of two families intersect forever. Placed in two makeshift hospital rooms, their lives come crashing down as they realize they have nowhere to go and nowhere to turn. Little do they know, the answers to both there problems are right next to each other.
Now I went to the Magic Johnson Theatre yesterday to see the premier showing of this movie! I sat with the media so I got to do an interview with the director and let me just say this guy knew what he was doing! Now this premier had 500+ people there, so for everyone else who hadn’t seen this movie, its a primarily Christian based movie and Jimmy knew exactly what audience he was catering to. Within in the movie there were a lot of religious easter eggs, symbolic things and people, and of course a lot of mentioning of God and scripture. So if your apart of the secular community I’m not sure exactly how this movie will make you feel. But religious or not this movie will make you feel!
For a low budget movie it was pretty good! Sure there were a few bad cuts, maybe some of the scenes weren’t perfect, but I appreciate the way the story was told and the lessons I drew from this movie. I could see scene by scene, the mental struggle of a non religious man born in a religious community, and all he wants to do is get away from God but he can’t because it’s a time where he needs him the most. I grew to love his character Jack Stone (Lawrence Bailey), and I think the religious community will grow an attachment to him as well.
All in all I’d give this movie THE BOMB(4out of 5)!! Its a good family movie especially if you’re a religious person, if your not then I still think you might enjoy it or if anything, take a lesson out of it! Most importantly, I think everyone will feel something for this movie and that’s what the director was going for. Make sure to come back later to see my review for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Also make sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter. Also like to ask each and everyone of you to go to www.gofundme.com/9yedwo and help out thee four teens trying to raise money to compete in the national ACT-SO competition by the NAACP. Well that’s it! Until next time, this is The D-Dan Reviews!
What’s up world! thanks for stopping by The D-Dan Reviews! Today I’ll be doing a review on a very old monster with some new flare, Godzilla! This movie is about how the worlds most famous monster is put against malevolent monsters who’s only goal is to repopulate the earth with others like them.
Now I know people have been talking about this movie for a while, but it took me some time before I could really get excited about it. I mean sure, it’s a monster movie, fighting, killing, destruction! But for some reason I wasn’t as hype about this movie as everybody else. It could be the fact that I don’t really know that much about Godzilla, but anyway I did get into this movie eventually and I’m glad I did.
So like I said before, I don’t know that much about Godzilla, but that didn’t stop the movie from being any less as good as is was. This movie was awesome! The action, the storyline, the effects, almost every aspect of this movie caught my attention and had me literally on the edge of my seat! The movie had a certain dark, thriller tone to it. There were small, scares throughout the movie, just enough to have you awake and alert, and Godzilla also displayed some fearsome roars that might strike fear, but definitely had you awake (so loud!!). Now the reason I’m stressing to you about staying awake is because in this 2 hour and 3 minute long movie you probably see Godzilla around 4 times and this movie moved kind of slow. Granted the last fight scene was nice and filled with Godzilla, but that was at the end.
Again the effects in this movie were great so some might say they felt like they were in the movie, I’ll say that I loved the character you could see in Godzilla’s face.
All in all I’d rate this movie a THE BOMB(4 OUT OF 5)!! It was a good movie and I enjoyed it, I’m thinking you will too. Don’t forget to come back more next week because X-Men: Days of Future Past is coming out and I’ll be posting my opinions on the movie and facts about the movie all next week so stay tuned! Well that’s it guys make sure to subscribe to this page and tell others about me and get the word out guys! Until next time, this is The D-Dan Reviews
Hello everyone and welcome to The D-Dan Reviews! As some of you may know, Yesterday I went to see The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This movie is about how Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, struggles against villain’s who are more powerful than ever and choices he has to make including love and responsibility.
I honestly had no clue what to expect from this movie. Even still as I play it through in my head, the whole movie seems kind of jumbled to what I saw in the trailer. I guess you could say nothing ever really sticks out in this movie except a couple of really cool scenes, but even still I kind of just feel like the movie wasn’t worth my time to see in theaters. There were also some really cool scene’s were Spider-Man does his “Spider-Man thing” and saves everyone and everything but even that lost its touch and just made the movie seem dragged out. The movie ended up being 2hrs and 25min! The worst part is the villains only showed up to fight Spider-Man in the last 20 min of the movie. That really wasn’t done well. they tried to stuff Electro, Green Goblin, and The Rhino’s fights all at the end. By the way, if you saw the trailer, you pretty much saw The Rhino’s whole fight scene. But even with all this I still found the movie at least entertaining and it held my attention the whole way through.
Now I’m not a really technical guy; little things don’t exactly bother me in movies. But you’re kind of pushing the envelope when you’re hiding behind a manhole cover and a rocket hits you and your fine. This is the kind of life and death situations Spider-Man ended up in that definitely should have ended in death. I mean really? Are you telling me that a guy standing two feet from you couldn’t hit you with a bullet from a automatic machine gun? At least one bullet could have grazed you and the explosion from the rocket didn’t even push him back a little. Anyway, your definitely going to find little nuisances throughout the entire movie.
All in all, I guess I’d give this movie a “POP ROCKS!” (2 out of 5). I did enjoy watching the movie, I mean I’d watch it if it came on TV, but It could have been way better. Really the whole movie was about Peter’s love life, which did in fact provide a shocking twist at the end, but I really didn’t feel like watching a soap opera. Well that’s it for today guys! Next movie I should be reviewing is X-Men Days of Future Past. Also I might start using my website to update the world on current events, and give my opinion about whatever’s going on in the world. Alright guy, until next time, this is The D-Dan Reviews!
